Tallahassee – Starting July 1, 2013, parents of children enrolled in Florida Healthy Kids will also have the option of choosing coverage through Argus Dental, a Florida-based dental plan. The new dental coverage will be available alongside the existing plans provided by DentaQuest, Inc and MCNA Dental.
“The addition of Argus Dental will expand the number of dentists in our network and allow Healthy Kids to accommodate our families’ dental needs in a way that is even more convenient and customizable than before,” said Rich Robleto, executive director of Florida Healthy Kids. “We are pleased to present our loyal Healthy Kids families and potential enrollees with more options to find the plan that best preserves the smiles of Florida’s most precious citizens and future leaders.”
Argus Dental, as well as MCNA and DentaQuest, provide quality-based Prepaid Dental Plans, Dental Discount Plans, Dental Saving Accounts (DSA), Dental PPO and HMO products in Florida. The contract with Florida Healthy Kids allows Argus Dental to join DentaQuest and MCNA in providing affordable dental care to children in Florida. Families currently enrolled in Florida Healthy Kids will be notified via email and mail of the new dental option later this month. All dental plans offered by Florida Healthy Kids are available on a statewide basis.

Dental care plays an instrumental role in overall health. Routine cleanings help prevent cavities, tooth decay and gum disease which, if untreated, can lead to more serious problems such as heart disease and stroke later in life. Florida Healthy Kids is confident this increase in affordable access will be of benefit to the nearly 240,000 children currently enrolled and to the Healthy Kids enrollees to come.
Florida Healthy Kids offers health insurance for children ages 5 through 18 and is one of four Florida KidCare partners. Healthy Kids is designed to provide quality, affordable children’s health insurance for families not eligible for Medicaid. Healthy Kids coverage includes doctor visits, immunizations, dental care, emergency care, hospital stays and much more.
